ACADEMIC PHILOSOPHY
Harvest Christian Academy is committed to immersing students in an age-appropriate understanding of God and His Word. We believe that the Bible is God’s written instruction for life and learning. We are committed to integrating the Bible throughout all course subjects and the school experience.
We believe God’s Word is the foundation of truth and view all learning through this worldview. The school’s curriculum is designed to advance students rapidly and is tailored to each student’s learning modalities. As an academy, we deliver strong academics led by our administrators and certified Christian teachers to each classroom and life-development activity. Our teachers work alongside students to guide and ensure the knowledge is being applied both in studies and real-world life experiences.
On behalf of Harvest Christian Academy, we invite you to call or visit us to see how we can come alongside your family in the education of your children to their fullest potential for an eternal impact.
HOMESCHOOL PARTNERSHIP GUIDELINES
Harvest Christian Academy offers part-time enrollment opportunities for middle (grades 5-8) or upper school (grades 9-12) students who are currently Home-Schooling. Students who take advantage of this opportunity may take courses, for credit, during their regularly scheduled times/periods in our master schedule.
For example, a student may take a pre-calculus class, and would be required to attend the class each day of the week at the time it is offered, completing all the requirements of any pre-calculus student. In this way, a homeschooled student will be involved in the same classes in which matriculated HCA students are participating. A student would be charged per credit hour. Credit bearing transcripts for upper school and reports cards for middle school will be provided at the completion of each course and all financial obligations.
HCA would also make available to all part-time students the following benefits:
- Weekly chapel services
- Athletic team participation. You must be enrolled during the season which the sport takes place. Therefore, winter sports require enrollment both semesters.
- Theater production participation. You must be enrolled during the season which the show will take place. Either fall semester or spring semester.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR INVOLVEMENT
HCA part-time students are both permitted and encouraged to become active participants in the HCA student community. This includes activities such as student council events, athletic games, fine arts, and other HCA sanctioned events.
In order to be eligible for high school athletic participation under IHSA guidelines, a student must be enrolled in at least 25 credit hours of study between HCA credit and home-school curriculum, which must be approved by our Administration. This is equivalent to five courses per semester. At minimum, one of those five courses must be through HCA.
